Shania Esmeralda Manaloe

Research Analyst ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE)

Shania Esmeralda Manaloe is a Research Analyst at the ASEAN Centre for Energy, working under the Fossil Fuel, Hydrocarbon and Minerals Department. Her work entails leading programmes and conducting research on methane emissions mitigation in ASEAN’s energy sector – including the ASEAN Energy Sector Methane Leadership Programme, the first regional methane emission dashboard and roadmap development (MAESTRO) with the World Bank Group, and the HORIZONS project with the Global Methane Hub.

Aside from methane initiatives, she is also leading the development of the ASEAN Petroleum Security Agreement and conducts regional engagement with the ASEAN Council on Petroleum, comprising the 10 major national oil and gas companies in ASEAN. She holds a bachelor’s degree in International and European Law and a master’s degree in Energy and Climate Law from the University of Groningen, the Netherlands, where she undertook research on the law and role of transit in the Trans-ASEAN Gas Pipeline.
