Dr Chen Shiun is the Senior Vice President for Strategy & Corporate Development at Sarawak Energy. Prior to assuming this role in September 2023, he served as Vice President for Rural Electrification since 2018, where he was instrumental in implementing projects aimed at achieving full electrification of Sarawak by 2030. In his current position, he oversees the strategic planning and corporate development activities of the Sarawak Energy group, with a focus on long-term growth and sustainability. In addition to identifying and pursuing new business opportunities and developing strategic partnerships, he leads initiatives to drive innovation and efficiency within the organisation. Dr Chen holds a B. Eng. (EEE) and a Ph.D. (Power Systems) from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand. Before returning to Sarawak in 2008 to establish the Research and Development Department at Sarawak Energy, he was an associate professor at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore.
