Senior Sustainability Specialist Hydropower Sustainability Alliance

Tashi Pem is a Senior Sustainability Specialist with the Hydropower Sustainability Alliance (HSA), where she leads efforts to advance global standards for sustainable hydropower. She has more than 20 years of experience in the hydropower and climate sectors, including roles in policy development, project implementation and international negotiations.

She previously served as Chief Engineer in the Government of Bhutan, where she oversaw hydropower planning and implementation, and as Safeguards Specialist with the Asian Development Bank, focusing on environmental and social risk management in large-scale infrastructure projects. She also has board-level experience in the operation and management of hydropower assets.

At HSA, her work centres on applying the Hydropower Sustainability Standard globally, supporting governments, financiers, and developers to integrate environmental, social and governance considerations into hydropower development.
