Akmal Niza Ahmad

Akmal Niza Ahmad was appointed Head, Global HR Partners Upstream Business, PETRONAS on 1 April 2020. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Tourism Management with a minor in Marketing (cum laude) from Western Michigan University, Michigan, United States of America. In 2014,  she attended the Senior Management Development Programme (SMDP) with Duke Corporate Education.

In November 2022,  she completed her Leading Sustainability: High Impact Leadership course with University of Cambridge (Institute for Sustainability Leadership). While in June 2022, she achieved ‘Chartered Fellow’ status from the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD). She also a certified PETRONAS coach, having completed her Ontological Coaching Certification from Newfield Institute in 2021. In addition, she holds a certification in Industrial Relations from the Malaysians Employers Federation (MEF).

Her career in PETRONAS began in 2001 as an HR planner in Remuneration and Leadership Development before being promoted to Manager, Leadership & Capability (LCD), PETRONAS Carigali, Upstream Business in 2008. Akmal Niza moved back to corporate in 2010 to lead the Remuneration Development for International Operations. She was later appointed as Head of Compensation & Benefits, Human Capital Management for GHRM in 2013.

She serves as a Board Member of Petroliam Manpower Services Mexico, S.A. de (PMSM) since July 2021 and HRM skill group advisor since January 2021. She is the PETRONAS D&I  Council Secretariat and externally, she is a member of the International Association of Oil & Gas Producers (IOGP) Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Task Force and the ASEAN HR Leaders’ Circle – Malaysia.
