A firm believer and proponent of low carbon mobility, Huzaimi Nor Omar is highly regarded as an industry expert pioneering in electric vehicles (EV) and electric charging infrastructure (EVI).
Huzaimi joined PROTON Berhad in 2002 as Cost Engineer and was later seconded to Group Lotus PLC UK prior to being promoted as Head of Sourcing and Development under Green Technology for PROTON’s vehicle electrification programme. In 2013, he explored EVI network development in support of the Nissan Leaf roll-out in Malaysia under the First Energy Networks Sdn Bhd as Business Development Manager and subsequently oversaw the Renault Zoe and Twizy EV product line-up as Product Manager under TC Euro Cars, a subsidiary of Tan Chong Motors Berhad.
In 2016, he was called to helm the Head of Mobility position and later Senior Director under the Malaysian Green Technology and Climate Change Corporation (MGTC). In this capacity, he successfully installed 235 public charging infrastructure under the Driving Efficient Electricity Demand Growth project and played an instrumental role in the immensely successful implementation of Global Environment Facility (GEF) USD2 million-grant-project on Energy Efficient Low-Carbon Transport in 2015- 2020 before securing another USD1.7 million in 2022. He was the architect and project director for the Low Carbon Mobility Blueprint development and later managed the Low Carbon Mobility Blueprint (LCMB) 2021-2030 implementation under the 12th Malaysia Plan.
Huzaimi holds B.Sc Engineering (Mechanical) from the Vanderbilt University USA and a member of MENSA, and is currently the Chief Operating Officer of Green EV Charge Sdn Bhd. His aim today is to advance the EV charging infrastructure in Malaysia and to retain chargEV as the most prominent EV infrastructure in Malaysia while expanding it with inclusiveness, reliability, high speed and digitalisation.
