Datuk Amar Abdul Hamed Sepawi is a highly respected Malaysian entrepreneur with international ventures in Malaysia, Australia, Indonesia and China.
A strong believer in sustainable and shared prosperity, Abdul Hamed serves as Chairman of Sarawak Energy. Having acted in this capacity since 2005, he has been a key player in the organisation’s transformation from a traditional utility into a modern and agile energy development company and power utility.
Abdul Hamed received the Sarawak State Entrepreneur of the Year Award 2004 and 2005 and was also nominated for the Malaysia Entrepreneur of the Year Award 2005. He was recognised with the BrandLaureate ‘Man of the Year’ Brand ICON Leadership Award in 2015, is a Member of the National Economic Consultative Council II and on the board of 35 other companies.
In recognition of his decades of work and success, he received the Outstanding Global Muslim Entrepreneur Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2022 Global Muslim Business Forum.
Abdul Hamed holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Malaya, a graduate degree from Oregon State University and an undergraduate degree from Australian National University.
