Batang Ai HEP Tour

As part of SAREF 4.0,
we invite you to join a 2-Day, 1-Night visit to Batang Ai HEP, which celebrates 40 years of operations this year – a milestone in Sarawak’s renewable energy journey.

Tour Details

The tour price is RM1,080 inclusive of 8% Sales and Service Tax (SST) per person, which includes round-trip transportation from Kuching to Batang Ai; one night’s accommodation; and all on-ground logistics.

Batang Ai HEP is in the Sri Aman Division of Sarawak, Malaysia, near the border with Indonesia. It is situated within the Batang Ai National Park.

Nestled close to the town of Lubok Antu, the hydroelectric plant lies approximately 250 kilometres east of Kuching. Travel from Kuching to the Batang Ai HEP typically takes between 3.5 to 4 hours by road, depending on traffic and weather conditions.

Commissioned in 1985, Batang Ai HEP is the first hydropower plant in Borneo and a milestone in Sarawak Energy’s journey toward sustainable hydropower development. With an available capacity of 94MW, it has provided reliable energy for four decades, improving the livelihoods of the surrounding communities.
