Amina Kadyrzhanova

Senior Sustainability Specialist Hydropower Sustainability Alliance

Amina Kadyrzhanova is a Senior Sustainability Specialist at the Hydropower Sustainability Alliance. She manages capacity-building programmes that support the implementation of the Hydropower Sustainability Standard across projects globally. She also leads the Hydropower Sustainability Training Academy, where she develops and delivers training on best practices in environmental and social management in hydropower.

Her areas of expertise include hydropower sustainability, climate finance mechanisms and energy policy. Prior to joining the Alliance, Amina worked on energy efficiency and climate change financing at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). She also supported business development and partnership facilitation at the Center for People and Forests (RECOFTC) and conducted research at the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).

Amina has gained international experience working in Germany, Hungary, Thailand, the United Kingdom, Portugal and Canada. She is fluent in English, Russian and Slovak.

She holds an MPhil in Environmental Policy from the University of Cambridge and a BSc in Environmental Geography and Climate Change from the University of East Anglia.
