Dr Julia Abdul Karim is the Director of the Technical Support Division at the Malaysian Nuclear Agency and an Exco Member of Women in Nuclear (WiN) Malaysia. She has built a distinguished career in nuclear engineering, with specialisations in reactor physics, nuclear safety, radiation safety and shielding.
Over the years, Dr Julia has held key leadership roles, including Head of Nuclear Reactor Physics and Manager of the Reactor Technology Centre. She has contributed to Malaysia’s nuclear development through technical taskforces, international collaborations with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), and ASEAN cooperation networks. Her involvement in national policies, such as the National Nuclear Technology Policy, underscores her commitment to advancing safe and sustainable nuclear energy.
Dr Julia holds a Doctor of Engineering in Nuclear Engineering from the Tokyo Institute of Technology, a Master of Science in Applied Physics and a Bachelor of Science in Computational Physics and Electronics from the University of Malaya. She also obtained a Certificate in Instrumentation and Control Engineering from Polytechnic Ungku Omar.
Through her leadership and expertise, Dr Julia continues to play a pivotal role in strengthening Malaysia’s capabilities in nuclear research, safety and energy development.
