Dr. Malcom Anak Demies holds a PhD in Terrestrial Ecology from UNIMAS and has over 25 years of research and field experience in Sarawak’s rainforests. His interdisciplinary training bridges forestry, botany and ecology, focusing on tropical forest ecology and biodiversity conservation. A pioneer in High Conservation Value Forest assessments, he has helped certify more than ten Forest Management Units. Dr. Malcom also led the development of Sarawak’s Forest Carbon Rules (2022) and applies advanced technologies like LiDAR for forest carbon monitoring. His work has significantly influenced sustainable forestry policy and climate change mitigation in Sarawak.
