Jukhee Hong is an active policy advocate for ASEAN economic integration, holding various roles across ASEAN organisations. She is engaged in cross-sectoral policy advocacy, representing private sector voices in business-to-government consultations with regional leaders and ministers. She is currently pursuing a PhD at Xi’an Jiaotong University, China, focusing on digitalisation and climate change.
At ASEAN-BAC Malaysia, she oversees the formulation and execution of strategic initiatives – including policy and event programmes and operational management – in support of ASEAN-BAC Malaysia’s Chairmanship 2025, led by the Council Members and in fulfilment of the private sector mandate.
From 2010 to 2022, she led CARI ASEAN Research & Advocacy and its predecessor, the CIMB ASEAN Research Institute – an independent think tank supporting ASEAN integration through research and advocacy.
Prior to Malaysia’s cabinet reshuffle in March 2020, she served as Executive Director of the APEC Business Advisory Council (APEC-BAC), representing 21 economies including Malaysia and headed the secretariat for the APEC CEO Summit 2020.
She was also Executive Director of the ASEAN Business Club, a network of top ASEAN corporate leaders. She has led business missions to countries including Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Vietnam and the United Kingdom, engaging with high-level dignitaries.
Before her ASEAN-focused career, she spent over 12 years in the Malaysian media industry as a trilingual journalist, news anchor, executive producer and media advisor to cabinet ministers, earning multiple awards for her work.
