Engineer Sarawak Energy

Nicholas Lau holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (First Class Honours) in Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak and is currently serving as an engineer in Sarawak Energy. He is a Certified User of the Hydropower Sustainability Standard, reflecting his commitment to sustainable hydropower practices through his involvement in the Mentarang Induk Hydroelectric Project, a joint venture between Sarawak Energy and Indonesian partners, which is set to be the largest renewable hydropower project in Indonesia.

In his first two years at Sarawak Energy, Nicholas has contributed to a range of capacity-building initiatives within the Company. He currently serves as Vice President of Education in the Sarawak Energy Toastmasters Club, a member of the Health Ambassador Committee in the Project Delivery Department, and one of the Secretariats for Sarawak Energy’s young executive programme – Sapphire Young Professional Network. These initiatives have contributed to fostering holistic employee development, covering areas such as public speaking, employee wellbeing and interorganisational development.

He believes that the catalyst for meaningful impact lies in the ability and willingness to seize opportunities boldly and with intention – even those unfamiliar or uncharted – and advocates this belief by leading through example.
