The Honourable Datuk Dr. Haji Hazland bin Haji Abang Hipni is a distinguished medical professional and dedicated politician with over 30 years of service. He began his academic journey at St Joseph’s Primary School and earned his MBBS from the University of Malaya in 1990.
Throughout his career, Datuk Dr. Hazland has received numerous accolades, including the Kesatria Mangku Negara (KMN) in 2018, Johan Bintang Sarawak (JBS) in 2020 and Panglima Gemilang Bintang Kenyalang (PGBK) in 2023, which carries the title of Datuk.
His political journey spans three decades – from assisting former Assemblymen (1991–1999) to serving as Assemblyman for Demak Laut since 2011. He is also Chief of the Demak Laut PBB Branch, a member of the Central Working Committee PBB Sarawak and Deputy Minister for Energy and Environmental Sustainability Sarawak since January 2022.
Professionally, he began as a Medical Officer at several hospitals and has been a private practitioner at Kumpulan Klinik Kota Raya since 1995. His community roles include Councillor for MBKS, board member of Lembaga Amanah TEGAS, patron of Persatuan Veteran Angkatan Tentera Kuching and advisor to Permodalan Demak Laut Bhd.
