Dato’ Hamzah bin Hussin was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA) Malaysia in 2021. Since then, he has spearheaded efforts to drive Malaysia’s sustainable energy agenda and fulfil the country’s Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) commitment. He focuses on advancing renewable energy (RE) development through mechanisms such as Feed-in Tariff (FiT), Net Energy Metering (NEM) and the Malaysia Renewable Energy Roadmap (MyRER).
He also oversees the implementation of impactful programmes like Nikmat Untuk Rakyat (NUR), supporting the Government’s target of 31% installed RE capacity by 2025 and 40% by 2035. Dato’ Hamzah holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from University of Malaya. He began his career in 2003 with the Administrative and Diplomatic Services, serving in the Ministry of Education and various government agencies. His experience in public sector management, policy and strategic planning is integral to the growth of Malaysia’s sustainable energy landscape.
