Dato’ Hamdan Abdul Majeed is a dynamic thought leader, investment banker and venture builder dedicated to shaping urban policies, fostering civil society development and advocating for impact investments. Armed with a degree in Economics and Management from the University of London, his career has spanned investment analysis, investment banking and investment strategy at Khazanah Nasional Berhad. His notable accomplishments include the transformation of George Town into a UNESCO World Heritage Site and active involvement in urban policy initiatives such as Penang 2030. In 2009, he founded Think City, an organisation focused on creating more liveable, resilient, and people-friendly cities. His visionary endeavours have earned international acclaim, with accolades such as the Eisenhower Fellowship and the Creative Bureaucracy Festival Award, all while co-authoring the influential book Cities, People & The Economy – A Study on Positioning Penang in 2010. Recently, Dato’ Hamdan was given a special citation by UN-Habitat for his contributions to urban rejuvenation in Penang.
